OrbitSafety (“OrbitSafety,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides location-sharing, family and group safety, trip monitoring, emergency alerts, vehicle management, and related services through the OrbitSafety mobile application and website.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you.
 
 
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create or use an OrbitSafety account, we may collect:

• Your name

• Email address

• Profile photograph

• Authentication identifiers

• Circle memberships and assigned roles

• Subscription status

• Account and notification preferences

Passwords are processed by our authentication provider and are not stored by OrbitSafety in readable form.
If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide us with your name, email address or private relay address, and a unique account identifier.
 
Location information
With your permission, OrbitSafety may collect precise or approximate location information, including while the app is running in the background. This may include:

• Current and last-known location

• Location timestamps and accuracy

• Saved places such as Home, School, or Work

• Arrival and departure events

• Trip routes, destinations, estimated arrival times, and progress

• Driving or movement status

• Location history

Location sharing is designed to let members see relevant information about other members of their circles. Location availability and accuracy depend on device permissions, connectivity, battery state, and Apple operating-system restrictions.
OrbitSafety retains detailed circle location history for up to seven days, after which it is deleted or overwritten, unless a longer period is required for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
 
Motion, trip, and device information
With permission, we may process:

• Motion and activity information used to detect possible driving

• Speed, distance, and trip duration

• Driving events and driving scores

• Battery percentage

• Device type, operating-system version, app version, and notification token

• Connectivity and background-location status

OrbitSafety cannot reliably determine whether a person intentionally enabled Airplane Mode, force-quit the app, lost connectivity, or disabled a system service. The app may instead show that location information has stopped updating.
 
Safety information
When you activate SOS or another safety feature, we may collect and share:

• Your identity and profile photograph

• Your current or last-known location

• The time of the alert

• Alert status and related responses

• Trip, check-in, or permission-request details

OrbitSafety is a supplemental safety tool. It is not an emergency service and is not a substitute for contacting local emergency services.
 
Circle and permission-request information
We may collect information you provide to create or participate in a circle, including:

• Circle name

• Membership and administrator roles

• Invitation codes or links

• Sharing and notification preferences

• Arrival-place settings

• Permission requests, destinations, dates, times, companions, transportation information, notes, and approval status

This information may be visible to the circle members or administrators selected by the sender.
 
Vehicle information
If you use vehicle features, we may collect:

• Vehicle nickname, make, model, year, colour, licence plate, VIN, fuel type, and registration state

• Verification, registration, service, insurance, and Hoy No Circula information

• Documents and photographs you upload

• OBD scanner information, diagnostic codes, and vehicle readings

• The circles with which you choose to share a vehicle

Vehicle documents may contain sensitive personal information. Upload only documents you are authorised to store and share.
 
Photos, files, and other user content
We may collect profile photographs, vehicle photographs, insurance policies, circulation cards, and other files you voluntarily upload.
 
Technical information
Our service providers may automatically process:

• IP address

• App installation identifiers

• Device and browser information

• Authentication and security logs

• Crash, diagnostic, and performance information

• Push-notification delivery information

2. How We Use Information
We use information to:

• Create and secure accounts

• Authenticate users and reset passwords

• Display circle members on maps

• Share locations according to user settings

• Detect trips, arrivals, departures, and possible driving

• Provide routes, estimated arrival times, and Live Activities

• Send SOS, trip, arrival, departure, vehicle, and permission-request notifications

• Manage circles, roles, invitations, and sharing preferences

• Store and display vehicle records and documents

• Process subscriptions

• Prevent fraud, misuse, and unauthorised access

• Diagnose crashes and improve reliability

• Comply with applicable legal requirements

We do not sell personal information. We do not use precise location information for third-party advertising.
 
3. Information Shared With Other Users
Information may be shared with members of circles you join or create. Depending on your settings and the feature used, circle members may see:

• Your name and profile photograph

• Current or last-known location

• Trip and movement status

• Location history

• Battery level

• Arrival and departure events

• SOS alerts

• Driving information or scores

• Permission requests and responses

• Vehicles and vehicle documents you choose to share

SOS alerts may be sent to every eligible circle in which you participate. Review your circle memberships and sharing settings carefully.
Administrators may manage circle membership, roles, arrival-place alerts, and certain sharing settings. Circle administrators do not receive ownership of your OrbitSafety account.
 
4. Service Providers
OrbitSafety may use the following providers:

• Apple: Sign in with Apple, Apple Maps, MapKit, Core Location, StoreKit, APNs, CloudKit, Live Activities, and other operating-system services

• Google Firebase: Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Firebase Cloud Messaging, hosting, security, and related infrastructure

These providers process information under their respective terms and privacy policies. Firebase Authentication may process authentication information in the United States, while other Firebase services may process information using global infrastructure.
We require service providers handling OrbitSafety data to protect it consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
 
5. Push Notifications
With your permission, OrbitSafety may send notifications concerning:

• SOS and safety events

• Arrivals and departures

• Trip activity

• Permission requests

• Circle invitations and changes

• Vehicle restrictions, verification, service, or document expiration

• Account and security events

You can manage ordinary notifications through OrbitSafety settings and the iOS Settings application.
Critical Alerts, if approved by Apple and enabled by you, may play a sound even when your device is muted or using a Focus mode. Critical Alerts are intended only for urgent safety events and require separate permission.
 
6. Legal Bases
Where applicable, we process information based on:

• Your consent, including permission to access location, motion, photos, notifications, and Bluetooth

• Performance of the service you request

• Our legitimate interests in securing and improving OrbitSafety

• Compliance with legal obligations

• Protection of users or others during urgent safety situations

You may withdraw system permissions through iOS Settings. Some OrbitSafety features will stop working when permission is withdrawn.
 
7. Retention and Deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service and meet legal or security obligations.
Unless stated otherwise:

• Detailed location history is retained for up to seven days.

• Current or last-known location may remain until replaced or the account is deleted.

• Account and circle information remains while the account is active.

• Uploaded vehicle information and documents remain until deleted by an authorised user or until the account is deleted.

• Security, transaction, and support records may be retained longer where reasonably necessary.

You may request account deletion from the account settings or by contacting us. Account deletion will remove or de-identify information controlled by OrbitSafety, subject to legal obligations, fraud prevention, active subscriptions, backups, and information another user must retain as part of their own records.
Removing the app from a device does not automatically delete the account.
 
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. Firebase states that supported services encrypt information in transit and encrypt various service data at rest.
No storage or transmission system is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your password, device, circle invitations, and account access.
 
9. Children and Family Accounts
OrbitSafety may be used by families, but it is not intended for children under 13 to create independent accounts without verifiable permission from a parent or legal guardian.
A parent or guardian who creates or manages an account for a minor must have the legal authority to consent to the collection and sharing of that minor’s information.
 
 
10. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:

• Access your personal information

• Correct inaccurate information

• Delete your account and information

• Withdraw consent

• Object to or restrict certain processing

• Obtain a portable copy of eligible information

• Manage the circles with which you share information

Users in Mexico may also exercise applicable ARCO rights of access, rectification, cancellation, and opposition.

11. International Processing
Your information may be processed in Mexico, the United States, and other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have data-protection rules different from those in your country.
Where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for international transfers.
 
12. External Services and Links
OrbitSafety may display Apple Maps content or open external websites and services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
 
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when OrbitSafety’s features, providers, or legal obligations change. We will update the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when legally required.
Continued use after an update takes effect constitutes acknowledgement of the revised policy where permitted by law.
